Set up, customize, and effectively use Microsoftâ Project to plan and manage projects from inception through closeout in complex, changing, multi-project environments and to provide information and perform analyses regarding resource utilization, project health, and the impact of potential changes to the project.

Course Materials:

All attendees receive a Schedule Associates exclusive reference manual developed after years of working with project managers to understand what they would find most helpful in learning how to use the software. The reference manual is specifically designed to be easy to follow along in, to provide quick access to needed information and to provide guidance in using Microsoft Project in planning and managing projects back in the workplace. 

This course is available as on-site training or on an open enrollment basis. This course is only available for Microsoft Project 2010.

Who Would Benefit From Attending: 

Project managers, program managers, schedulers, and others who are experienced with Microsoft Project and knowlegeable about project management best practices as they relate to scope definition and scheduling.

Course Credits:

Attendees will receive credit for 14 contact hours of project management training good toward PMI®'s CAPM or PMP® project management certification.

PMP®'s will receive 14 PDU's good toward recertification.

Day Two  

Day One Review
Tracking Progress

Conducting What-if Analysis
Advanced Reporting and Data Analysis

Customizing Microsoft Project and its Outputs

Course Wrap-up

 Course Format:

A mix of demonstrations in Microsoft Project, explanation of concepts on flip charts or whiteboards, hands-on exercises in the software to confirm understanding, and realistic case studies performed in Microsoft Project to combine project management concepts with the use of the software. Workshops involve attendees working in Microsoft Project to gain first-hand experience with the tool. 

Prerequisites:

Some familiarity with project management concepts is assumed. If you're not familiar with project management principles, we strongly recommend taking Project Management for Non-Project Managers prior to taking this course. Experience with Microsoft Project and a thorough understanding of how the software determines schedules is assumed. Taking our Project Management with Microsoft Project course, or an equivalent course, is strongly recommended.

Attendees should be familiar with how to navigate around Microsoft Windows applications prior to class.
